Portrait of a Moment

This is an opportunity for a thoughtful pause.

That's it.

A Portrait of a Moment™ is a moving snapshot of a moment.

What is a moment?

Technically, a moment was a medieval unit of time equal to 90 seconds. Most of us simply think of it as a short, unspecified amount of time, though. So we think of it as "a few seconds" of time. Usually these few seconds fly by us, without us noticing what's happening. The intent of a Portrait of a Moment™ is to elongate that moment to make it visible. To invite us (or to remind us) to pause.

The videos are often about 12 seconds. The lighting is natural, and the camera held by hand, which means the frame is almost, but not perfectly still. As it is just a moment passing by,  there is no fancy camera work, or fancy easels stands set to steady things.

Just the moment as it happens, the camera, and the movement that happens within the moment.

The outcome is whatever happens within that framed moment. Just like the rest of the moments of our lives, this moment that passed us by, happened just that once and its captured here for you to see.
